Celebrate and log every Stripe payment

Each new payment posts a message to Slack, adds a row to a sales sheet, and sends the customer a personal thank-you email.

What you need

  • A Stripe account
  • A Google Sheet with the columns date, customer_email, amount, currency
  • Slack and Gmail

Steps

  1. Listen for successful payments

Use the Stripe trigger for the event charge.succeeded. It's instant, so nothing is wasted on empty checks.

  2. Log the sale

Add a row with the date, customer email, amount, and currency. Stripe sends amounts in the smallest unit (cents), so divide by 100.

  3. Tell the team

Post a short message in Slack, like: New sale: $29 from anna@example.com.

  4. Thank the customer

Send a short, plain thank-you email from your own Gmail. Personal notes get more replies than receipts.

Build it in your tool

Stripe > Watch events (charge.succeeded), Google Sheets > Add a row, Slack > Create a message, Gmail > Send an email.

Watch out for

  • Use Stripe test mode first and send yourself a test payment.
  • Some customers check out without an email. Skip the thank-you step when it's empty.
